At Furqaan Project, we have always believed in the transformative power of the Quran. Our mission is to spread the wisdom the Quran provides to all those who may have questions or curiosity about Islam. One of the most remarkable stories we’ve encountered is that of Barbara, an 83-year-old woman whose life was profoundly changed by a chance encounter with the Quran.
One sunny afternoon, Barbara was walking down the street when she noticed something unusual. Among the trash spilling from a garbage can, a book’s cover caught her eye. It was a copy of The Clear Quran®, translated by Mustafa Khattab. Curious about this unusual find, Barbara picked up the book and decided to take it home. Little did she know, this small action would change her life.
A few weeks later, we received a call at the Furqaan Project office
As Barbara delved deeper into the Quran, her interest in learning more about Islam grew stronger. She began researching the religion and found a sense of certainty and purpose. The back pages of The Clear Quran® had our contact number, and Barbara reached out to us again. Ahmed Abouhaiba, our Development Manager, vividly recalls their conversation.
Barbara’s journey culminated in her taking the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith, at the age of 83. Her decision was met with much respect and admiration from everyone who heard her story.
At the Furqaan Project, Barbara’s story vividly illustrates the profound impact that our Dawah and Quran distribution efforts can have. Her journey underscores the importance of ensuring the Quran reaches as many hands and hearts as possible. Each Quran we distribute has the potential to transform lives, ignite curiosity, and led to a deeper understanding of Islam
For us at the Furqaan Project, Dawah, the act of inviting others to understand Islam, is not just recommended; it is essential. Every day, countless people like Barbara are searching for meaning and truth. By participating in acts of Dawah and supporting our efforts in Quran distribution, we provide the best resource – a text that contains the most important answers and lessons to connect with Allah (SWT).
The fact that a copy of The Clear Quran® was found in the garbage is a stark reminder of the ignorance and misconceptions that still exist. This incident is not just about being “unaware”; it represents a blatant disrespect towards a text that holds the answers and guidance so many are desperately searching for. This reinforces the necessity of our mission.
