Bio of Dania Amaira

Dependable, motivated, hard-working, success-driven. That's me in a nut shell. I've always been passionate about health and nutrition. When I was younger and the other kids were junking out on Del Taco and Burger King, I kept my diet simple and healthy. As a young adult, I was the one others came to for weight loss help, or to "healthify" their lifestyle. The connection between my passion and my career didn’t happen until I took my first Health and Nutrition class. It was love at first sight, or should I say first exam! I knew right then that my life’s calling was to be a registered dietitian. In 2008 I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from California State University Polytechnic University Pomona with my degree in Diet and Nutrition. My crowning jewel after graduation was to run and complete the 26 mile LA Marathon. Crossing that finish line was my way of showing myself and those around me that I do what it takes to get the job done, and I always do my best. I obtained my certification in 2014 and my professional life “fell into place”. I was immediately offered an adjunct teaching position at Mt. SAC Community College in Walnut, CA. At the same time, I joined Davita Dialysis as a full time dietitian. As a young professor I teach what I love and my students find it easy to relate to me and I enjoy relating to them. I understand the pressures that exist in their world when it comes to health and nutrition, and I am able to help them understand how to make better choices using real life examples from my own experiences. At Davita I put my skills to work and help patients transform under my care. The greatest gift is watching my patients take control of their health and well-being. I have great enthusiasm for what I do and I LOVE making a difference in the lives of others. I am moving forward and up and am making a difference in the world of Nutrition and Health.
