About Gadeir Abbas
Gadeir Abbas is the Senior Litigation Attorney for the Council on American-Islamic Relations Legal Defense Fund. He has helped spearhead major lawsuits across the country involving constitutional issues of particular concern to the American Muslim community. Gadeir has also litigated on behalf of American Muslims placed on the federal Watchlist and Muslims discriminated against in the workplace and in jails and prison. Gadeir has argued these issues before various courts of appeals, and, most recently, before the Supreme Court in Fikre v. FBI. Gadeir studied philosophy at Loyola University Chicago and law at Case Western Reserve University. Before becoming an attorney, he taught English in Mississippi with Teach for America.
